A High-Performance GPS Collar System for a Pair of Dogs
Raising rescue dogs is one of those things that feels really good but also kind of constantly stressful in the background. Malcolm deals with that every day with his two rescues Tennessee, a super high-energy Pitbull mix who basically has “instant sprint mode” at all times, and Kola, a Pitbull-Lab mix who’s more of a wanderer, always curious, always sniffing off somewhere like she’s got her own agenda. Totally different personalities, but both of them are obsessed with being outside.
The tricky part is they live near busy roads, so outdoor time used to feel less like relaxing and more like Malcolm just being on high alert the entire time. Like the dogs are enjoying life, but he’s kind of tense, watching every move, just hoping nothing goes wrong.
That’s where the Halo Collar 5 kind of changed things for him.
The tracking was the first thing he really noticed. Tennessee especially doesn’t just run off he launches, like zero warning. Older collars couldn’t really keep up or felt a bit behind, but this one is way more accurate. The GPS updates super fast, so there’s barely any delay, and Malcolm says he can open the app and immediately see where they are, which honestly takes a lot of pressure off when they’re near roads or open spaces.
Then there’s the training part, which matters a lot because they’re rescue dogs. He didn’t want anything harsh or scary or intimidating. Instead of punishment, it’s more like gentle cues sounds and vibrations that guide them and slowly help them understand boundaries. And over time it just kind of sticks without stressing them out, which is what he really wanted.
So yeah, overall it just made life feel a bit less chaotic. Still messy sometimes because dogs are dogs, but way more manageable now. More freedom for them, and way less constant worry for Malcolm.
